The Holy Spirit/Ruach Hakodesh

The Holy Spirit is YHVH's Spirit not a force that works on God's behalf.

He was promised by the Father to those that believe in Yeshua (Acts 1:4-5). Sent by God in Yeshua's name to teach us and remind us the Word of Truth. (John 14:26)

He is called Helper (John 14:16) Spirit of Truth (verse 17), He will guide us into all truth and tell us the things to come (John 16:13), He will glorify Yeshua and will take of what is Yeshua's and declare it to us (verse 14).

Every believer in Yeshua receives the Holy Spirit at the moment their salvation, when they are sealed for eternal life  (Ephesians 1:13-14). This happens when they repent from their sins, understands that Yeshua's sacrifice on the cross was for them in order to cleanse their hearts from every sin committed previously. This allows the Holy Spirit to indwell in them, being this experience the "new birth" spoken by Yeshua to Nicodemus on John 3.

This is the baptism in Yeshua's Body (I Corinthians 12:13) , different from receiving power from on high, as the outpouring of God's Spirit (Joel 2:28,29, Acts 2:1-4).

One of the outward signs of this baptism of The Ruach HaKodesh is speaking in tongues whether they are intelligible (to others not to the believer speaking (Acts2:1- 11) or unintelligible. (I Cor. 14:2,4; Acts 10:44-47; 19:2,6)

There are other gifts of the Spirit available to the believer for the profit of all, as explained by Paul on his first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 12, being one of them "Different Kinds of Tongues". This gift is different from the "speaking in tongues" as in (I Cor. 14:2) "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries "; "He who speaks in tongues edifies himself "(verse 4).

The Gift of the Spirit "Different Kinds of Tongues" requires the manifestation of the "Interpretation of Tongues", for it is for the profit of all, not just for personal edification. Normally it is a Word from The LORD to a person or to the body of believers, to a nation, a city, or whomever or whatever The Word is directed to.

The gifts of the Spirit available to us are: Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, gift of Faith (special faith to accomplish what is not natural), gifts of Healings, Working of Miracles, Prophecy, Discernment of spirits, Different Kinds of Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues.

The Ruach HaKodesh indwells the true believer of Yeshua/Jesus, who is born of the Spirit of God.  The believer is empowered to live a godly life according to His Commandments (Jeremiah 31:31-34; John 14:15-17; Galatians 5:13-25) and to build Yeshua's Kingdom as witnesses of the Most High God, with signs following, preaching the gospel, cleansing the lepers, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers  raising the dead, casting out demons (Matthew 10:7-8) .

PART 1 - RUACH HAKODESH (HOLY SPIRIT) & HIS GIFTS

HOW DO WE GET THE BALANCE RIGHT BETWEEN TORAH & THE RUACH HAKODESH / HOLY SPIRIT?

Sometimes we just have realised that the Torah is for us and we start to work at it with a passion. We realise the Torah is YHVH’s Heart for His people Israel and we love it. We get so focused on learning and living the Torah that we forget the Ruach HaKodesh and His Gifts. Then later on we realise that we are a bit dry compared with the life we had before when we lived in the Spirit and didn’t have a clue about the Torah. The reason we became dry is not because of the Torah, it is because we forgot the our Ruach and His Gifts who empowers us to perform the works Yeshua ( Jesus) commanded us to do. Without this balance we can’t achieve what we are called to do by Yeshua, as in Matthew 10:7-8: “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons.

PART 2 - RUACH HAKODESH (HOLY SPIRIT) & HIS GIFTS

YESHUA IS THE KING! The TORAH is the Constitution of the HIS Kingdom!

In the Messianic/Torah Observant community I have often seen, great emphasis on the Torah and little in the Brit Hadashah (New Testament), this can be very problematic. It is in the Brit Hadashah that we see Yeshua walking on earth. In it we see His mission, His divine conception and His works: His teachings; His death and resurrection. We see who He said He is, He said: “Before Abraham I AM”! If we think the TaNaK (Old Testament) is higher and more important we have a huge problem because the records in the Gospels are about Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel! The records in Acts are about First Century Church/Community; the letters of Shaul/Paul, Peter and John are to the body of Messiah. Revelation is a prophetic book for the end times. Most people who have embraced the Torah and believe in Yeshua are living in the wilderness with the Torah. They are not living in the New Covenant. The Torah is the same. The New Covenant has much higher promises. As the Bride of Messiah, come let’s position ourselves in the light of the New Covenant.

YESHUA SAID: WAIT FOR THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER!

The difference between the Baptism in the Body of Messiah and the Baptism with the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit.

BAPTISM WITH THE RUACH HAKODESH & TONGUES

Acts 1: 4, 5, 8 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:1, 2-4 When the Day of Pentecost (Shavuot) had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 10: 44-48 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Acts 19: 1, 2, 6 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

WHAT IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES?

1 Corinthians 14 Is it normal human language, is it Hebrew or is it Heavenly Language? Is it intelligible or unintelligible?

Is it Kundalini spirit (the counterfeit spirit of the Holy Spirit) as many say or is it the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit?

Is it possible to recognise one or the other?

Praying and Singing in the Spirit and with the Understanding: what is that all about?

Can I trust speaking in tongues? How does this happen?

Do I always need to have interpretation to speak in tongues?

Who gives the Gifts as in 1 Corinthians 12?

What is its purpose?

What if I’m too nervous and sometimes get it wrong?

Will the Ruach HaKodesh stop using me and will I lose His Gifts?

PART 5 - RUACH HAKODESH (HOLY SPIRIT) & HIS GIFTS

HOW DO THE GIFTS OF THE RUACH HAKODESH WORK? HOW DO WE OPERATE IN THE GIFTS IN A CONGREGATION SETTING?

From the Bible, here is an explanation of each one of the Gifts as in 1 Corinthians 12 verses 1, 4-11:

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given:

• the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another

• the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another

• faith by the same Spirit, to another

• gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another

• the working of miracles, to another

• prophecy, to another

• discerning of spirits, to another

• different kinds of tongues, to another

• the interpretation of tongues.

But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
